Day Five: Friday May 26

I have not done a layout in a while but had fun using all the fun Want2Scrap and GlueArts goodies! These great adhesives made it fun and easy to layer lots of products for extra texture and dimension. The Pro Glider made it super easy and was really strong. I also loved the Adhesive Squares, very versatile.

You can't get too much bling either.  I seriously love the Silver Rhinestone Fancy Brackets...so fun!

The Silver Rhinestones - 72 Count were perfect to add some depth to the kraft border.

Lastly the Silver Rhinestone Baby Bling was the perfect accent for this layout.

My Inspiration Album...

Every girl needs an inspiration album, full of wonderful things and colors to draw from when you need a little kick start to get creating. I am going to share mine with you. I used this fantastic Assorted Rectangles Chipboard Album by Want2Scrap as a fun starting place.

On each page I focused on a different thing that inspires me. Both technology and of course my wonderful family!

Who is not inspired by fun fabrics and textures? My love of photography and cameras is always a great place to start to get my creative juices flowing.

The beauty of nature and art are always inspiring to me.

When all else fails food and my love of color works every time!

As always just getting my hands a little messy is enough in itself to get me inspired to create.

Of course we need to get some detail shots to give you a feel of how inspiring all these things really can be.

Now it is your turn, create your own inspiration album. It will be fun making it...and drawing from it whenever you need a little push.

Art Journal Background Tutorial

I wanted to share with you this tutorial on how to create this background. It is amazing what a little bit of paint, paper, and glue and create. This is the beginning of our background...first use a base of Gesso to prep the original paper. Then using adhesive and Modge Podge glue down the pattern paper.  I also added some wads of tissue paper to create extra texture. I wanted the image to looks like rolling hills of sand.

Now comes paint. I added several layers of paint in complementing colors to create depth. I rubbed it on with my fingers and really got it in the nooks.

I added even more paint such as these lines of gold metallic paint. I did the same to create the sky, using various colors of blue and a few streaks of white.

Next comes the colorful part! To create the the umbrellas I dug into my scraps of paper and paper pieced the umbrellas. I then cut out birds and used a black pen to define the edges.

Next up...blinging it up with tons of  Want2Scrap goodies!  I used the Fancy Wave Bling Borders and added them to the bottoms of the umbrellas.

The Finesse Swirls in LeCreme Pearls were perfect to  create the illusion of rolling hills in the sand. A few of the Blue Green Rhinestones Baby Bling  added that little extra "something special" to these pages.

And here is our final project!

I am hoping you are now feeling creative and want to create a few designs of your own.

Check out this Drink Ware by Traditions Studio!

I got a box of fun yummy goodies from Traditions Studios. I am one lucky girl when I get these fun boxes ...that means it is time to play! I seriously love this 16 oz. Tumbler with a Straw...and used it to make my own glass that will follow me from soccer game to soccer game.

This is so totally me!

I just love all the great details...don't you love how the Want2Scrap 72 Count Turquois Bling brightens it up.

Now since I am not the only one that needs to drink water at the games...I made this one for Nick! He got the 15 oz. Stainless Steel Water Bottle.

These would make great Mother's and Father's Day gifts as well, don't you think?

Want2Scrap Tree Canvas Using the Scarlet Lime Mixed Media Kit

Yes, it is that time again...Time to get your hands messy! Making canvases is one of my new favorite things to do. It makes me feel like an artist each time I create one. It also lets me indulge myself in my love of bright and vivid color. I used the  Scarlet Lime Mixed Media Kit.

This canvas is was a ton of fun and it amazes my how I can actually create an image from just a few hand cut triangles. My trees were perfectly frames by the Silver Rhinestones Nestabling Pennants. What a fun  and different way to use them.

The Brown Nestabling Circle was also the perfect way to highlight the sun. I also used four different color of 72 Count Bling...they make a perfect center for each flower.

And just one more so you can see some of the fun details in this...

I hope you are inspired to dig in and get you fingers messy too. It is really very freeing to create and not worry about making mistakes.  In the mixed media world mistakes tend to make the best art!

Mimi Leinbach: March Simple Layouts...Back to my Roots

I love that I am trying new things creatively...slowly making my way in the world of mixed media. Digging in and getting messy but every now and again you need to visit your roots. I did that this month with the March Frugal Fab Kit at Scarlet Lime. I don't do nearly the amount of layouts I used to do but it was really nice to return to my roots.

6 Snow People
I dug into some of my pictures and found this picture of a family ski trip. The colors were perfect for this kit.

And a few more details...

6 Snow People Detail 2

My second layout is of our dear friends. They are my sons second family and for Christmas this past year I did a photo shoot with the all the "men" in the family.

4 men...almost

The colors in this kit are perfect for Spring.

Thanks so much for popping by to check out the kits, be sure to check back soon. I went mixed media to the max on the March Main Kit.
